Brüssels

I just got home from Brussels, and wow. This city blew my mind!

One week in Brussels was to little, and all I want to do right now is to get on a direct plane to Brussel. While sitting on the plane from Norway to Brussels, I actually thought that this would be a boring place with nothing to do, or see. I was wrong. We arrived in the afternoon, and the airport was very nice (and it was kinda weird to be there because of the terror-attack that had taken place earlier).

From the airport we took the train to Garde Central Nord, which is the centrum, and where our hotel was located! The train, and metro was super easy to navigate on, everything was in English, and it was cheap. So, after 15 minutes on the train, and five minutes of walking, we found ourselves at Hotel Aris. A 3-star hotel with breakfast included located two minutes away from Grand Palace (which is one of the most extraordinary, and beautiful things I´ve ever seen). The hotel itself was ok. The rooms were clean, and somewhat modern, for the price we paid it was very good!

By this time I was exited because just from the short way from the station to our hotel I saw a pretty cathedral, cute bars, waffleshops, and the whole city was in cobblestones. Therefore we rushed out, and ate at a restaurant called Drug Opera, which we ate at later in the week too.

Brussels impressed me so much, and here are some of the things I found good, and bad about the city:

+ The food was fantastic, and cheap. There were a lot of different types of restaurants, and food which can make everyone happy. My favorites were Drug Opera which were a restaurant split up in three floors, and it was actually an old opera, and an old pharmacy so they´ve kept the old look. Manhattans burgers were also soooo good, and this was more of a hipster place, I recommend to try their homemade ice tea.

+ The people in this city were so welcoming, happy, and nice. I am from Norway which is a country containing people who are very cold, and not open-minded so I was shocked by the cute belgians. Me and my friends met many new people, and we still have contact with them, and we are going to visit them in the summer!

+ Nightlife in Brussels was lit. There were always people in the clubs, or bars regardless of whether it was the weekend, or a Wednesday. We were out almost every day, but one of the days we were just hanging at a Shisha bar, and it was really cool.

+ The architecture in Brussels was pretty, and carried throughout the whole city. There were old buildings, big palaces covered in golden details, sculptures, big parks, and so on. Very many things for the camera to catch!

–  The only  thing I found “negative” was the military roaming the streets. They are there because of the terrors that have happend, and still can happen. Of course they are there for the safety of the people, and to create a feeling of protection over the Belgians, but it was a very special sight, and feeling to have them around everywhere we looked. At the end of the week I was used to it, but at the start of the week it felt weird, and scary.

Anyways, Brussel is a city for everyone, and if you´re young then go! The young people in this city are the coolest. I can not wait to go there in the summer again.

Have you been to Brussels before?

NATURE FEELS – TRIP AT RJUKAN

This weekend I took a trip to Rjukan (Ibiza I wish…) and it was so beautiful there! The weather was superb, and the surroundings were absolutely breathtaking. I have tons of images from this place, but I have chosen a few of them which is from when we took a cableway up to the mountains (I know lazy, right?).

If any of you are in the Rjukan area I highly recommend this cableway trip, there are also a lot of bicycle trails up there which is really popular. There is also a really good restaurant there where you have view over the whole ally, and the mountains. Super lovely! There is also a bungee jump nearby which I am planning on doing next time.
