Top 10 Travel Handbag Essentials

When traveling there is not many items you can bring, you have to pack your favorite jeans, blouses etc. Although I could wish that it was possible to travel with my whole closet, so if anyone knows how, please let me know!

Anyways, there are a few items I consider more important than others, and these are the things that I always keep in my handbag when I set out for a new adventure.

1. Camera

No matter how you put it, a camera is the key when traveling. This is how I document my trip, and keeping memories visual forever. With me I have a Canon 550D which is a big camera that takes super good photos, but sometimes having such a big camera with me can be annoying, or bit of a struggle. Therefore I also have a GoPro camera with me, which is an action camera that can take a hit, and also a dive underwater. Highly recommended for anyone who are often out in the nature, hiking, or just travels around.

2. Free 4G in EU countries

Well, in Norway where I live, I can purchase a mobile subscription which aloud me to surf the internet for free in other EU-countries, which could be really expensive if you do not have this deal. Many people think that I “kill the travel spirit” when I can surf, and be online just like home, but I do not think so myself. We live in a digital world, and I like to post pictures on Instagram, and Snapchat. Or it can come in hand when I am going to find a certain place, or other things. Come on, internet is full of opportunities.

3. Dictionary/Travel book

Okay, so this is more if you are going to a specific country, or city, if you where to go out on an interrail and visit 10 countries there would be a lot of books, which is not that practical to have in your bag. But, if you were to go out on a travel in Rome, purchase a Italian dictionary, and learn some language. Also, buy a book which has written about Rome, so you could find some cool places to see, and some nice restaurants for an example.

4. Dry Shampoo

So this goes out to the girls (mostly), and this is also kind of a “luxury” thing that I like to have with me when traveling. Like, I hate when my hair gets greasy, so I always bring a mini bottle of dry shampoo so I could feel fresh, and I do not have to stress with getting a shower, or finding one. This is of course just when I travel the big cities, not when I am out hiking mountains, or if I am in the woods, then I could not care less!

5. Phone Powerbank Charger

If my phone battery dies out, I feel lost, especially if I am in a other country. So I always have this small powerbank, which I can charge my phone in emergencies. They are not that expensive eiter!

6. Headphones + A Good Travel Playlist

This may be one of the most important things for me. I love music, and listen to music 24/7 so some good headphones, or headset is a must. Mix it with a super good travel playlist on your phone (I use Spotify, cheap and all the songs you could think about in there). When on flights, buses or in the car it is super relaxing putting on some music, and stare out the window.

7. Notebook

I like to have something to write or draw on, therefore, I always bring a notebook. Although I have my phone, I feel more creative using a book to write in, and I can customize it the way I want it, so you could call me old-fashion I guess.

8. Money

I was not sure if I should write this or not, because it says itself, but I wrote it anyways. Money is of course super important to have in your handbag when traveling, and you should think of the currency in the country you´re going to before you travel. Always have some change, don´t have all your money stacked in your bankcard.

9. A good Book

I love to read so I make sure to always bring a book or two when I am traveling. You never know when you have to wait for a flight in hours, or if you are just going to the beach. A book never fails you. If you are a youth, I recommend all of John Greens books, he is one of my favorite authors. Jojo Moyes also has some really good books.

10. First Help Kit

I know, this sounds stupid, haha. BUT, I promise you, you will not regret it. Of course it depends on where you are traveling, if you are in a big city medical help is never far away. On the other hand, if you are hiking, or are some place far away from the big cities some cleansing water, and bandages will help you a lot. One time, a friend of mine fell on a rock, and got a deep cut in his leg and we were in the middle of nowhere. Everyone panicked, then I came with my miniature first help kit, and “saved” him. Later on, everyone bought me food and drinks. Be the hero, people!

Ebay sells some cheap ones, just search for “first help kit”. That is where I got mine from.

WANDERLUST

Ah. I am sitting on my room in Norway which is ALREADY starting to be cold. On my speakers I am bumping full volume with travel chill out beats. I can feel my wanderlust crawling under my skin, every atom, every cell in my body wants to get the heck out in the world to explore, and having an adventure.

This year has been a very boring year for me, and especially this summer! But, I am just waiting for next summer because then I am finally going out on an interrail which I have planned for several months now. I can´t wait, although I have to for one more year (buhu). I just hate the ordinary life,  I guess it sounds weird, but I do not want to spend my days at a desk from nine to five. I do not care about the money, it´s okay for me not to be rich, as long as I can do what I love, and thats traveling, exploring, get to know new people, and different cultures.

Well, when I am done with school I am planning on taking a year free before starting on the university, and use it for traveling. And who knows? Maybe I will found a whole new path to walk after traveling for so long? I certainly hope so…

PS. I am working on a new short-film that will be posted on my blog! It´s from some of my hiking trips this summer, it just need some editing etc. I love working with visuals, and this is my first video ever, but I hope it will turn out good:)

Top 10 Islands to Visit

Hey!

I thought it would be cool to make a category on my blog that is named “Bucketlist”. I first planned on doing a post about it, but then I quickly found out that there are so many different things that I want to do, and places I want to see that it would be better to split it up into different posts.

In this post, as the title says, here are my top 10 islands I want to visit!

The Galapagos Islands:

Since I was a kid I´ve completely fallen in love with this place. It looks so beautiful, and tropic. There is also a bunch of rare animals living at Galapagos, and well, I love animals so it seems like the perfect place for me.

Hawaii:

Well, to be honest it just looks amazing here, and there is no better place to learn how to surf. There is also an abandoned hiking track here that I want to visit, it is called “the stairways to heaven”. Many people says that it´s very dangerous, and thats also the reason why it is forbidden to hike there. But it looks amazing, and I know that some day, I will be walking those steps.

Bora Bora:

This is a small island located in the South Pacific, northwest of Tahiti. It has these sand islets around, and a turquoise lagoon with coral reefs surrounding it. Therefore, it is a super place for scuba-diving. This is also kind of a luxury place, so I have to save some money to go here, but I will someday!

Bali:

Oh my god, Bali. Known for its tropical forests that is located on volcanic mountains, the super pretty beaches, and of course, coral reefs. There are also many different temples etc. there which would be so cool to see.

Tenerife:

You have probably heard the song, Tenerife sea by Ed Sheeran. Well, I had actually never heard about Tenerife, but I had to check it out after listening to this song. I liked the place right away, and it quickly took a place on my list.

Santorini:

This is a greek island, and a thing I want to do is go island jumping in Greece because my parents did when they were younger, and they don´t regret it. But, Santorini is an Island that stands out because I was here when I was younger, and I have this special love for this place, so I would love to get back there soon after all these years.

Borneo:

This island is located in Asia, and has the most amazing rainforest, as well as beaches. Like Galapagos there are many wild animals there like leopards.

Vancouver Island:

From tropic islands, to a bit colder climate. This island is located in Canada, and is a popular destination for biking, hiking and camping. The wilderness there is fantastic I´ve heard, and I love to hike so this is absolutely a place for that.

Sardinia:

Back at it again with the tropical islands… This island has amazing beaches, actually a coastline on 2.000 km. But it is also a nice place to go hiking because of its landscape with mountain like areas, could not be more perfect!

The Maldives:

Wow. This place got the wow-factor. And I want to go there before it is to late (sadly), because of the climate changes it could be under water some day. Just imagine living in a bungalow here!!

So, that was my top ten islands! There are many more, and maybe there will be a part 2 of this, haha. None of the pictures displayed in this post are mine, I simply found them on Google, just so you know.

Favorite Travel Playlist

Hey, how are you?

I want to thank everyone who follows this blog kind of thing, it means so much to me! To please you I would really like to know if there is anything that you would like me to write about, it could be things like my recent trips, top 10 lists, experiences I´ve had traveling so far etc. Just comment below!

Anyways, I thought it be cool to make a different post this morning. Since I am a huge fan of music, and then to it all the time I found out that I could share my current travel playlist. When you are on the road it is so important with some good music which sets the mood.

Here is my current travel playlist, you have no idea how chill it is to listen to these songs while driving, sitting on a an airplane, or a train.

INTERRAIL PLAN

Hey!

First of all, I want to thank for all the positive feedback that I´ve gotten on my posts, to see people liking my posts makes me smile. This was one of the reasons why I started this site, so I could share my photographs, and thoughts with others, and of course get some sort of feedback. I did not expect that I would get it so fast, and I´ve already gained a few followers, wihu!

Second of all, I have made a more detailed plan on how I want my interrail trip to be. So, after going through different countries, things to do in them, and what I wanted to do the most I was left with fourteen destinations.

This is how I think my trip will be:

5dad31af940b021d51f2f93e63c3dc6e

I found a site named interrailplanner.com which worked excellent! I just simply put in the date I thought I would be traveling, and then started typing in which cities I want to go to, then it automatically finds out how long the train ride will be, and you can find hostels etc. to stay at directly from the page! Super easy, would recommend for all of those who are planning an interrail.

As you can see I will take the ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen, and from here my adventure starts.

Berlin: This is the second city I will visit, and I plan to stay here for two nights. I know that there is a lot of museums, and historic things to see here, like the Berlin wall. So in Berlin there will be plenty of sightseeing.

Amsterdam: Next stop is Amsterdam which I´ve planned to stay for one night even though there is a lot to do there too. I will definitely visit Anne Franks house, but I will probably roam around in the city with a bike.

Antwerp: This is a place I am hyped to go to. The reason for this is because a direct train from Antwerp will take me to  the “Tomorrowland” – festival! This is a huge festival with super famous, and great artists. So I will stay in Antwerp for some days because of the festival.

tl2015-103

Zurich: After partying it´s time for some beauty, and there is no better place to discover that than Switzerland. I have been in Genévè before, so I decided to go to Zurich this time because I have never been there, and people tells me that it is sooooo gorgeous there. I am planning on taking a scenic train ride here, it is a great way to see the fantastic nature Switzerland has to offer.

Source: http://www.seduniatravel.com/cosmos/switzerland/scenic-switzerland-train

Zagreb: Croatia baby! Zagreb is one of the cheapest cities in Europe, and I am on a budget (some times I seem to forget) therefore I will visit this city to save some money, and it is a really good place to stay because a direct train to split goes from Zagreb.

Split: …And that takes us to Split! This is one of the destinations I am looking the most forward to. It has breathtaking beaches, nice weather, yummy food, ah I can not wait! Here I will get my tan on, and relax. I have heard that there are some nice walking paths here to, so maybe I will do that to (if my lazyness does not kick in.)

Venice: After my chill days at Split, I will take of to a bigger city, Venice. I feel like this is a city I will eat on many different small cafes for some reason, and of course take a boat ride through the canals.

Rome: Departing to an even bigger city, Rome! My grandmother has been here many times, and she has fallen in love with it. Hopefully so will I.

Cagliari: Till this point, the train has been my ride. Now I will take the ferry as my transport, and I will first set sail for the island, Cagliari. This is an island in Italy, and I am not planning on staying here for long, and I have never heard of the place but I want to check it out, it can´t be that bad?

Palma: Then I will keep the ferry as my driver, and set over to Palma, a Spanish island. This is also a place I have never heard of, but I found it easier to cross the ocean to Spain, than taking the train all the way round.

Barcelona: Finally I will set my foot on land again, and it happens to be in Barcelona, a coincidence, don´t think so. Also one of my top destinations at this interrail. Well, what can I say, it is Barcelona. A beautiful city that offers about everything from art, history and beaches!

Madrid: I have been many places in Spain, but I never been to their capital, so I got to pay my visit. I´ve heard the nightlife here is great!

Monaco: My last country, but not destination. Monaco is the next city, and here I will live my life on a yacht and in full glam. Well, probably not, but who knows?

Paris: My last city, Paris! Here I will spend the rest on my money on clothes, before I will be heading home.

This is how my interrail trip looks for now, but there are so many places I want to visit, like Montenegro so there could be a change in plans, but then I will just update you on that later!

Are there any of you that know of any things I should see in any of these countries, or tips on hostels, restaurants etc. please leave a comment, it would make me very happy!

NATURE FEELS – TRIP AT RJUKAN

This weekend I took a trip to Rjukan (Ibiza I wish…) and it was so beautiful there! The weather was superb, and the surroundings were absolutely breathtaking. I have tons of images from this place, but I have chosen a few of them which is from when we took a cableway up to the mountains (I know lazy, right?).

If any of you are in the Rjukan area I highly recommend this cableway trip, there are also a lot of bicycle trails up there which is really popular. There is also a really good restaurant there where you have view over the whole ally, and the mountains. Super lovely! There is also a bungee jump nearby which I am planning on doing next time.

INTERRAIL?

As I mentioned in my first post I am going on a trip through Europe, which I can not wait to do. One of my friends did it last year, and three of my friends left about a week ago, and I envy them so much. When the lust for traveling is big, there is a challenge just sitting still at my house in Norway. At the other hand, I know that I will be going next year when I have enough money, and I will spend it all on trains, booze, and cheap hostels.

The reason why I fell in love with the whole interrail consept was mostly because of the price, because believe me, it is really cheap. I can write briefly about what they offer, what I chose, and why.

So, interrail.eu offers two types of passes; global pass, and one country pass. The one country pass gives you the opportunity to roam around in one country, when the global pass opens the opportunity to travel all around Europe, except your own country (in my case, this will be Norway.)

The global pass is the most popular one, and the starting price is 200 pounds, and with this pass you can travel for a two weeks. I chose the pass where I can travel for a month, and this costs 479 euros, which is approximately 5000 nok. This is not cheap, but it is quite a good price looking at what you get from it. Travel across whole Europe for 479 euros? Yes, thank you.

Another reason why I chose this pass is because there are a lot of benefits when purchasing this pass. First of all, I get a 25% discount on the pass because I am aged 15-25, so that is really nice. Second of all, when traveling I get discounts on specific ferry companies which is an advantage when traveling across seas, and last but not least, I get a free interrail travel pack with a map etc.

I have not decided which countries I want to visit, if I could,  I would visit them all, but I don´t think that I have time for that. I probably would´ve reached many countries if I traveled fast, but I want to take myself good time in each country I pay a visit. I do not want the trip to become stressful, maybe I wont follow my travel plan at all, maybe I will just stay in a specific country a much longer time than planned because I like it so much, who knows?

But, of course, I need to have plan ready and the countries that I have on my list at this point is: Denmark (which will be my starting point, therefore, I will not spend much time here), Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Spain, Italy, and France. This is not in the right order, but these are on the list, but as I said, I am not sure yet. I will write a post when I have made a finished plan on how I believe my interrail trip will be.

Stay tuned.

Have any of you ever done the same thing? How was it?
